Today's math lesson was factors. Boring of course, so I started to doodle stars. I quickly became bored of the regular 5 pointed star and moved on to larger pointed stars. I tried 4 point, 6 point, 8 point, and really any even pointed star. I then discovered that for every even number (divisible by two), you can draw the star as-trick style (*). But I wanted a game, so I plotted points around in a circle figure, chose a number (Q) and connected the dots around the circle "Q" places over. If I came back to the same starting point, I started at a different point and completed my star. But the more points I had, the more ways I could draw the star. I moved onto "square stars" and quickly I was questioning whether the 25 point star is made of five-five pointed stars. And for that matter, is the 36 point star made of six-six pointed stars? I went up to 7 and found that it was all true. I guess factors can be useful in doodling.
